Named after a character in the Disney movie Cars because of the very real coughing, spluttering and fire breathing she did when she first arrived. A life long passion and a true thing of beauty from every angle.
The Trade
It all began here. The much loved, pristine, show quality, suuuuuper quick Audi RS4 hopped up onto the trailer and took a ride to where Snots was lying in wait.... It all seemed such a good idea at the time.
UK Showroom
These photos taken in the UK showroom. Where the sales guy warned me that we wouldn't be able to talk once Snotrod came to life. Yeah yeah I thought, I know loud cars. "Come on then, show me what she's got".
He flicks the switch, that's not so bad I thought... sounds weird though.... "That's just the fuel pump!" He chuckled.
BOOM there's that V8!!!!
And HOLY HELL was he right! I jumped out of my skin when she burst to life!!!!
Do I really get to take her home?
"A fiver says he lands it in the back of the tow car!"
What happened next you really couldn’t make up!
It involved my first drive in a classic American muscle car, torrential rain and aluminium trailer ramp. Needless to say I had an audience and all of the guys on the yard were placing bets on how long it would take me to park it in the back end of my much loved Land Rover rather than on the trailer behind her!
I have been lucky enough to drive some powerful cars in my time, but to pop my cherry in such a powerful beast with the raw grunt of over 500bhp in these conditions made my palms sweat let me tell you!!!
Thankfully, after the back end having some sideways fun and dancing about on the wet floor she landed neatly on the trailer bed and I could breathe again! Definitely more luck than judgement on that occasion!
Pulling up at home, still in the pouring rain at 8.30 at night in my oh so peaceful cul de sac knowing I'm going to have to kick the old girl into life to get her off the trailer and down my drive.
Let your imagination run away with you... think thunder, then think louder! The exhaust resonated on the trailer bed, the sound bounced around the street and just got bigger! One neighbour came out to see the helicopter he was sure must be landing on the green!
Needless to say the next day I went knocking on doors and making my apologies. I was assured that windows shook the night before. I was mortified! But hoped going all in on the gamble of a lifetime would be worth it.
